Construction has officially commenced on the new Multi-Specialty Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Kiplombe, Uasin Gishu County, a project set to fundamentally reshape East Africa’s healthcare landscape.
The groundbreaking ceremony, presided over by Hon. Aden Duale, EGH, officially launched Phase I, which will deliver the first 2,000 beds of the total 4,000-bed capacity.
-
Project Scope: A fully funded Government of Kenya initiative set on a 200-acre parcel.
-
Timeline: Full completion targeted for April 2027.
-
Delivery Model: The project is being implemented through the Ministry of Defence to ensure disciplined, efficient, and timely deliveryโa key factor for a complex of this size.
-
Capacity: The facility will include 60 ICU and 120 HDU beds, significantly easing pressure on the current MTRH.

This KSh 50 billion investment will not only be a transformative medical complex but is also expected to generate over 10,000 jobs, providing a massive socio-economic boost to the region.
The facility aligns with the governmentโs Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) objectives.
