On Wednesday 27th March 2024, the Architectural Association of Kenya convened its 57th Annual General Meeting at the Argyle Grand Hotel, Mombasa Road, attended by esteemed members including the College of Fellows, Trustees, Governing Council, and AAK members.
Discussions centered on the association’s achievements in advocacy, research, membership services and Communications, and overall performance during the financial year that ended December 31, 2023.
Looking ahead:
- Research and Advocacy AAK will strategically integrate a comprehensive Research and Advocacy (R&A) strategy into its 2024-2029 Strategic Plan focusing on:
- climate action through initiatives such as the Safari Green Building Index and the Grow A Classroom Project;
- development control improvements;
- Social housing advancement with a particular emphasis on professional engagement in the housing projects, promoting holistic housing solutions that incorporate 3IF & promoting the integration of green building practices.
- Membership services
- Enhancing Professional Development Opportunities through CPD events, workshops, webinars, BuildTours, and training programs covering a wide range of topics relevant to the sector.
- Membership Class Upgrades

- New Member Recruitment – actively engage in recruiting new members to expand the Association’s membership base

- Strategic Industry Relationships – continue with efforts directed towards establishing meaningful and strategic partnerships with industry stakeholders, aimed at providing additional opportunities for the benefit of our members.
Prior to the AGM, members had the opportunity to tour the hotel, which is part of the Argyle Hotels Group (Australia). This site visit provided insights into best practices in hospitality design showcasing innovative approaches to guest experience and sustainability.
