Baloobhai Patel’s Aksaya Estates to build Marriott hotel at Nairobi Airport

Kenyan investor Baloobhai Patel’s Aksaya Estates is partnering with Marriott International to open a Courtyard by Marriott hotel at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). The 180-room hotel is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in 2027.

Key details about the project:

Opening date: The hotel is slated to open in 2027.

Property features: It will include 180 rooms and suites, two restaurants, a rooftop fitness center, an 18-meter swimming pool, and flexible event spaces. An expansive landscaped courtyard with a fire pit will also be a feature.

Sustainability: The hotel has secured the Preliminary EDGE Advanced Certification from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for its sustainable design.

Location advantage: Positioned directly at JKIA, the hotel will provide convenience for both business and leisure travelers, offering quick access to flights.

Partnership: This marks the second partnership between Aksaya Estates and Marriott International, following their collaboration on the Sankara Nairobi, Autograph Collection, in Westlands.

This development is expected to boost Nairobi’s hospitality infrastructure by providing high-end, international-standard accommodation at the city’s main airport, catering to the growing demand from corporate and transit travelers.
