Construction of Level-4 Hospital at Mai Mahiu on track

Construction works on the Sh 154million Level-4 Hospital at Mai Mahiu in Nakuru County is on track. County Acting Director for Public Health, Lilian Muyale assessed the progress and said the facility expected to be complete in November.

The facility will house modern theatres, laboratories, X-rays and imaging centre, pharmacies, and other Level 4 Hospital essential services. The County is also constructing houses for doctors and nurses to ensure the facility works for 24 hours. It is fully being funded by the County government.

The facility upon completion is set to offer most of the needed medical services and also reduce the distances patients travelled to access specialized health services and enhance County’s response efforts to medical emergencies.

Reduce congestion

The hospital will serve the local community, dry port, passenger train terminal and the upcoming industrial park. This will further reduce congestion at both Naivasha Sub-County and Nakuru Level 5 hospitals. According to the Acting Director, facility will be a big boost to the government’s initiative to offer Universal Health Coverage (UHC) to citizens being one of the key pillars under the Big 4 Agenda. Muyale said recently the county Government employed over 300 healthcare workers, among them doctors, nurses, clinicians and laboratory technicians to ensure delivery of quality health services across the region.
