Construction of Wote Stadium in good progress

Nakuru kicks off construction of Keringet Sports Academy

Construction works on the Wote Stadium in Makueni County is in good progress. This is according to officials Sports Kenya who expressed satisfaction with the ongoing works of the multi-million shillings project.

Officials who toured the facility led by Sports Kenya Head of Business Development Julius Mbii and Makueni County Commissioner Mohammed Maalim. Maalim, also serving as the Makueni County Development Implementation Coordination Committee chair, said the contractor was progressing well and his office was optimistic that the work will be finished soon.

“I’m happy with the works at the project and if the contractor moves with that speed, he can deliver this stadium very soon,” said Maalim.

Construction of the Sh 350million Wote Stadium had stalled three years ago due to lack of funds but resumed in June after Sports Cabinet Secretary (CS), Amb. Amina Mohammed announced that the money had been availed to complete the project.

The 10,000 seater stadium will include a pavilion, a perimeter wall, a track field and administration block. It will be constructed to international standards and according to the CS, the stadium will give the young people an opportunity to hone their talents and compete at both local and international levels.

Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana lauded the government for the initiative to have the stadium completed and expressed his optimism that the stadium will improve talent among youth in the area.
