Muguna explained that the water supply interruption is a result of an ongoing installation of new equipment for Dagoretti and Uthiru pumps as well as commissioning of two new pumps to boost water supply from Kabete Reservoirs to Uthiru Reservoir.
โThe shutdown will facilitate installation of suction mains and delivery headers at the Dagoretti and Uthiru pumps at Kabete pumping station,โ he noted.
The infrastructural development is being done as the company prepares to transport more water to Karen and other areas, through the Kabete-Uthiru-Karen pipeline, when the Northern Collector Tunnel water project is completed.
The water project, set to be completed this December, will pump in at least 140,000 cubic metres of water to Nairobi in a bid to bridge the water supply deficit to more than four million city residents. Affected residents have been urged to reserve and use water sparingly before and during the period of interruption. Nairobi residents residing from the western side of the county will be affected by the latest interruption.
