Construction of the Kakapel Cultural Centre in Busia County is set to be completed. County Government of Busia through the Department of Infrastructure and Energy has handed over to the contractor to begin completion works.
The project is under the department of Sports, Culture and Social Services will be fully funded by the County Government of Busia. The Contractor was given a six-month time frame to execute the project with the commencement date set for next week.
Major source of revenue
According to Acting Director Sports, Culture and Social Services Peter Ogullah, the centre will change the face of Kakapel Cultural centre which is a major tourist destination in Busia County housing important historical artefacts.
Angurai South Ward Administrator Silas Juma lauded the efforts of the Governor and Area MCA Grace Olita for pushing for the completion of the project which will be a major source of revenue to the County Government. The Building Inspector in charge of Teso North Sub-County George Oyoda underscored the need to execute quality work as well as involvement of locals in the project.
