KDF builds modern ablution block for Utafiti Primary School Kericho County

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has officially handed over a newly constructed modern ablution block they built for Utafiti Primary School community in Kericho County.

The facility’s handover ended days of pain and suffering for the 567 pupils after the only toilet in the school compound caved in some prompting the management to turn to KDF for quick action. The project which was approved by Chief of Defence Forces Robert Kibochi included construction of modern facility comprising 10 units and a urinal.

The military also went ahead to install a 5,000 litres water tank and renovated the floor of two classrooms. Gabriel Kibuchi who was the project manager handed over the ablution block and challenged the pupils to make good use of the developments to foster their education.

Supporting local communities

This project was part of the KDF continued efforts in supporting local communities. In August 2020, tonnes of KDF officers who were accommodated at a local school in Murang’a opted to renovate its classrooms and repainted the gate before they left. They were hosted at Wathiani Primary School in Maragua during the refurbishing of the Nairobi-Nanyuki railway line where upon completion of work they opted to give the institution a new look.

“KDF engineers who were rehabilitating the Nairobi-Nanyuki railway line were accommodated at the Wathiani Primary School in Muranga County. They renovated classroom walls, roof, repainted the gate and installed a 5,000-litre water tank, giving the school a fresh look,” said KDF.
