Kenya Forest Service (KFS) and Nairobi Arboretum Community Forest Association have received Sh 12million from Radisson Blu Hotel for construction of an ablution block and a paved walking track.
KFS Board Chairman Peter Kinyua confirmed the report and said the project improving the accessibility and amenities in the Park and caters for the growing number of visitors especially due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
โWe have other parks which need to be renovated and we are grateful so far for the private sectors that have shown interest in partnering with us,โ said Kinyua.
Celebration of milestone
Following the project, thousands of City residents, especially people living with disability who frequent the Park will enjoy most after the rehabilitation and expansion of an old toilet block is completed. The toilet located along Arboretum Walk has a cabro paved walk way to the washrooms with 4 female and 2 male rooms, a urinal for 8 and 2 toilets for the physically challenged.
Radisson Blu representative Rakhee Kantaria said they celebrate the milestone of making Nairobi Arboretum a better place. She expressed her joy that Prime Bank has also volunteered to complete the second phase of the ablution block building. Other private sectors that have expressed interested to partner with KFS and Nairobi Arboretum Community Forest Association include the M-pesa Foundation and UN Kenya among others.
