NCA, Police partner to enforce construction regulations

The National Construction Authority (NCA) and the National Police Service (NPS) have announced a partnership to ensure compliance by inspecting construction projects in the building industry in Isiolo County.

The exercise is part of a wider national undertaking which started in February aimed at enforcement of construction industry regulations. The Authority whose main mandates are accreditation and project registration also ensure the sites are compliant with the required rules and regulations governing the industry.

NCA Registration and Compliance General Manager, Qs. Susan Ruto, stressed the need for quality adherence in the construction sites.

“Developers and contractors defy suspensions by the Authority and continue with constructions hence the need to partner with the police who are the law enforcement agencies to assist in checking such knotty cases,” noted Susan.

Isiolo County Police Commander Joseph Kigen, acknowledged the need for new constructions sites being registered and to have accredited workers to avert disasters. The Commander promised to work with the NCA whenever construction activities are being carried out in the county to ensure the players abide by the law.

Isiolo County is a county in the former Eastern Province of Kenya. Its population is 268,002 (2019 census) and its capital and largest city is Isiolo. Isiolo County is to be the first county to be developed as part of the Kenya Vision 2030 program. Other upcoming urban centres are: Garbatulla, Modogashe, Kinna, Merti and Oldonyiro.
